Kanye West House: His $57M Malibu Mansion

Kayne west house

Right on the edge of Malibu’s shoreline sits a Kanye West House that looks more like modern art than a typical celebrity home. It’s the kind of headline-grabbing property that belongs in the same conversation as the Mark Wahlberg House, where design and fame collide.

Completed in 2013, this oceanfront masterpiece spans just over 4,000 square feet of raw concrete and steel. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the home rises across three striking stories with 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. In 2021, Kanye bought it for an incredible $57.3 million in cash, placing it among the most expensive celebrity purchases in California.

For Kanye, this was meant to be a rare escape. The kind of place where mornings begin with waves outside the door, and the world feels quiet for a momentfar away from the noise of fame.

Kanye West House Malibu  Location

  • Full Address: 24844 Malibu Road, Malibu, CA 90265

It’s right on the Pacific Coast Highway, one of the most coveted strips of beachfront real estate on Earth. To get there, head west on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) from Santa Monica. Pass Pepperdine University on your right, then look for Malibu Road on your left  , a private, narrow lane that hugs the shoreline.

The house sits directly on the sand, just steps from the water. You can hear the waves from every floor. No wonder Kanye paid $57 million for this exact spot.

Kanye West House Malibu Tour: Step Inside His Stunning Mansion

Hi, I’m Stefano Schiavon, the person behind RivonHome. As an architect and researcher, I’m always fascinated by the homes that shape people long before fame ever arrives.

Before the Kanye West House and headlines, Kanye West’s story begins in a modest tan house on Chicago’s South Side, in the South Shore neighborhood near Rainbow Beach Park. This isn’t a glamorous estate it’s a simple 1,600-square-foot wood-frame home built around 1905, with just three bedrooms, one bathroom, and the kind of quiet character that defines real family life.

Kanye’s mother, Donda West, purchased the home in 1981 for $40,000 and raised him there through much of his childhood. Years later, after the house faced neglect and foreclosure, Kanye bought it back in 2018 through his Donda Services LLC and renovated it.

More than real estate, this property remains a deeply emotional symbol of roots, legacy, and where it all began much like other iconic hometown estates, including the Michael Jordan Chicago Mansion, that carry history far beyond their walls.

Inside Kanye West House  Interior & Features

Step inside KKanye West House, where minimalist brutalist design meets oceanfront luxury. Every space from soaring concrete ceilings to open living areas, blends artistry with serene coastal views.

Grand Entrance

The entrance to this Kanye West House sets the tone immediately. You step through a heavy, architectural doorway into a space defined by raw concrete walls and soaring ceilings that let natural Pacific light flood every corner.

The original design by Tadao Ando featured no fussy ornamentation, just the honest beauty of concrete, steel, and glass working together.

The foyer connected seamlessly to the rest of the home, guiding you from street level downward toward the ocean.

Everything felt intentional. Every angle was considered. It was the kind of entrance that made you slow down and actually look.

Bedrooms

TheKanye West House features 4 bedrooms total. The lowest floor holds three ensuite guest bedrooms, each with private bathrooms and views.

The top floor is reserved entirely for the owner of a penthouse-level master suite with sweeping, unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean.

The master suite felt like a private world. Floor-to-ceiling glass once framed the horizon. Before Kanye gutted the space, the suite featured marble finishes and custom woodwork that reportedly cost hundreds of thousands of dollars alone.

Bathrooms

Kanye West House had 5 bathrooms, a full bath for each of the three guest suites on the lower level, plus a powder room on the main living floor, and the master bath on the top floor.

The bathrooms were originally marble-clad throughout, a signature of Marmol Radziner’s collaborative work with Ando on the interior finish.

The master bathroom was reportedly a showstopper  rich stone, custom hardware, and a concrete hot tub that looked out toward the water. Kanye later had all marble ripped out entirely, which shocked both the architecture world and his own contractor.

Living Spaces

The main living level sits in the middle of the three-story home IN Kanye West House, housing the formal living room, kitchen, and powder room. This is where the Ando magic really hits you.

Open floor plans, strategic window placement, and a seamless indoor-outdoor flow connected every room to the ocean view.

The living space felt calm and intentional, almost meditative. Ando himself once said architecture should remain silent and let nature speak.

In this living room, you understood exactly what he meant. The space felt like a pause in the middle of a very loud world.

Kitchen

The original kitchen was a masterwork of Kanye West House minimalist design. Custom wood cabinetry  which reportedly cost hundreds of thousands of dollars  lined the walls. Countertops were sleek and uncluttered, built for both aesthetics and function.

The layout flowed naturally into the living and dining areas, making it a social space as much as a cooking one.

Appliances were high-end and integrated, disappearing into the cabinetry so nothing broke the visual calm. Kanye had the entire kitchen ripped out and removed  cabinets, appliances, plumbing, everything. It was the decision that made architects worldwide lose sleep.

Special or Unique Spaces

Kanye West House had a rooftop oceanside terrace that was truly one of a kind. Sitting on the top floor, the terrace offered 360-degree views of the Pacific stretching west, the Santa Monica Mountains rising east.

The original design also included a courtyard with a firepit (later smashed on Kanye’s orders), a concrete hot tub, and an indoor fireplace with a custom stainless steel chimney.

These were not just luxury additions, they were architectural features built into the structure itself, impossible to simply swap out. The structure also includes roughly 1,500 square feet of outdoor deck space.

Security & Privacy

One of the biggest draws of Malibu Road is the privacy it naturally offers. The street is a private lane  not a public thoroughfare  so foot traffic is essentially nonexistent. Kanye West House concrete construction itself acts as a barrier: no visible windows at street level, a closed, fortress-like facade facing the road.

The ocean side, by contrast, opens up completely. The property sits directly on the beach with natural separation from neighbors on either side.

Combined with the remote location and gated community feel of Malibu Road, this was one of the most private celebrity homes in all of Southern California.

Additional Kanye West Properties & Real Estate

Beyond his Malibu estate, Kanye West House real estate portfolio spans oceanfront retreats, luxury condos, and exclusive investment properties, showcasing his taste for prime locations and high-end living.

Each property combines prestige, comfort, and standout features that define his signature style.

After selling the gutted Malibu shell, Kanye immediately turned around and spent $35 million on a brand-new Beverly Park mansion in an exclusive guard-gated community in Beverly Hills.

Hidden Hills Family Mansion  California

This was the legendary Kanye West House and Kim Kardashian family home. Located in Hidden Hills, CA, they bought it in 2014 for $20 million and spent another $20 million on renovations  working with designer Axel Vervoordt to create a minimalist, museum-like interior.

The property sat on 3.5 acres and featured two swimming pools, two spas, and a vineyard. Kris Jenner valued it at $60 million in 2018. After the divorce, Kim paid $23 million to keep the house in 2022. It remains Kim’s primary residence and is now estimated at $60+ million.

Calabasas Estate  Los Angeles, California

Kanye also owns a 320-acre estate in Calabasas, purchased for approximately $2.2 million in 2018. This property served as the headquarters for his Sunday Service performances and later housed his now-shuttered Donda Academy school.

The property reportedly fell into a state of neglect following the controversies that led to Donda Academy’s closure.

Kanye West House Selling Sunset

You’ve seen the Kanye West House Malibu Mansion on your screen and not just on celebrity news. Kanye West House landed right on Netflix’s Selling Sunset Season 8. Jason Oppenheim of the Oppenheim Group took on the listing at a jaw-dropping $53 million. His own agents couldn’t believe it.

One called it a “concrete parking garage.” Another questioned the math entirely. And honestly, who could blame them? Kanye had ripped out every window, every door, every cabinet leaving just raw concrete and ocean views.

Jason couldn’t close the deal at that price. The house eventually sold for $21 million in August 2024 a $36 million loss. Even reality TV couldn’t save this one.

Kanye West House Malibu Before and After

If you want to understand the most shocking celebrity home transformation ever this is it. When Kanye West House bought that house in 2021, it was breathtaking. Full marble interiors, custom wood cabinetry, floor-to-ceiling glass windows framing the Pacific Ocean, a luxury fitted kitchen, and a concrete hot tub.

Every detail was perfect. Then Kanye gutted it completely. By 2023, every window was gone. Every door gone. The kitchen, marble, plumbing, cabinets all ripped out. Pigeons moved in.

A $57 million architectural masterpiece became a raw concrete shell. The before and after difference? A staggering $36 million loss.

Kanye West House For Sale

If you ever wondered whether you could actually buy the Kanye West House Malibu mansion the answer is yes, but you missed your chance at a bargain. Kanye first listed the gutted concrete shell for $53 million in early 2024.

No buyers. The price dropped to $39 million. Still nothing. It finally sold for just $21 million to Belwood Investments in August 2024.

The new owner then spent $5-8 million fully restoring it and relisted it for $39 million, later dropping to $34.9 million. Want a piece of Malibu beachfront history? It could still be yours. 🏠

How Much Is Kanye West House Current Price?

This is where the story gets wild  and a little sad for Kanye’s wallet. He paid $57.3 million in cash for the Malibu house in 2021. Then he gutted it. By early 2024, he listed the now-empty concrete shell for $53 million. No takers.

The price dropped to $39 million. Still no luck. It finally sold in August 2024 for just $21 million, a staggering $36 million loss.

Where Does Kanye West Live Now?

Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, currently spends most of his time between his $35 million Beverly Park mansion in Beverly Hills and various luxury hotels in Los Angeles  including the Chateau Marmont and the oceanfront Nobu Ryokan in Malibu.

He also travels extensively globally with his wife Bianca Censori. He is no longer based in Wyoming or Malibu. His Beverly Park property is his most active known residence as of 2025.

Kanye West Net Worth: How Much Money Does He Have?

Kanye West’s estimated net worth in 2025 sits around $400 million, a significant drop from his peak valuation of over $2 billion when his Yeezy-Adidas partnership was active.

At his height, he earned over $150 million annually from Yeezy royalties alone. After Adidas terminated the partnership in 2022 over his antisemitic comments, his net worth took a massive hit.

Today, his income sources include his music catalog (valued at ~$90 million), real estate holdings, Yeezy royalty remnants, and various business ventures. He has also faced public headlines about financial strain  selling properties at significant losses and reportedly negotiating debts.

Conclusion

Walking away from the Kanye West house whether it’s the brutalist Malibu masterpiece, the iconic Chicago childhood home, or the sprawling Beverly Park estate  you realize one thing: this man doesn’t just buy homes. He makes statements with them. Every property tells a chapter of a very loud, very complicated, very fascinating life.

TheKanye West House alone is a story of genius, excess, and chaos all wrapped in 1,200 tons of concrete. You won’t find a more dramatic celebrity real estate saga anywhere. ✨
